IIFM has a large multi-disciplinary faculty in its nine faculty areas. The faculty is highly motivated and forms the core of the strength of IIFM providing expertise in a number of areas related to forest and natural resources management.

Director

Dr. R B LAL

Dr. R. B. Lal has a  brilliant academic  excellence  with   administrative experience in handling teaching, research,  and   training activities.  He did his M.Sc in  Physics, Masters Degree in  Forestry  and   Ph.D    in Forestry. Joined the Indian Forest Service in the year 1975. Have  more than thirty three years of experience of working  both  at  execution and supervisory levels in the State Government of  Manipur and Government of India which includes  Chief Wildlife Warden,  Government of Manipur; Director, Tropical Forest  Research Institute (TFRI),  Jabalpur;   Deputy Director General (Administration), Indian Council of  Forestry  Research and   Education,   (ICFRE)   Dehradun;   Inspector   General of Forests (Wildlife)   in the   Ministry of Environment &   Forests,   Government of India.   Dr. Lal has   experience   of working   with various  international agencies and had been focal point for various International Conventions on Wildlife Conservation.

Specific areas of interest include Forest Resource Management, Tribal Development, Community Forestry, Watershed Management and Wildlife Management. He has authored many technical papers, books and technical bulletins.

Dr. Lal took over as Director, IIFM, Bhopal w.e.f. 3rd September, 2009.

COMMUNICATION  AND EXTENSION MANAGEMENT 

Krishna Kumar, K. N.

Professor

Ph. D. in Agricultural Extension, PG specialization in Farm Journalism.

Recipient of ICAR junior and senior fellowship for PG and Ph. D. programmers. Served as Information specialist in Tamilnadu Agricultural Department, as Assistant Professor (Agricultural Extension) in Tamilnadu Agricultural University. Worked in the projects on Science and Technology Transfer to Farm Women, Rice bio-technology sponsored by International Rice Research Institute, Philippines and Rockefeller Foundation. Also served as Honorary consultant to M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation for Bio-village project at Pondicherry. Currently working in projects related to forestry extension and Community forestry.

Professional Experience:
Interdisciplinary research experience of ten years on issues related to scientific management of natural resources and forest-based livelihood enhancement in different regions of the country, including the Himalaya (Garhwal), North-eastern region (Mizoram) and Central India (Orissa).
